Square Pegs Charity's IT Connect Project Launch
Square Pegs Charity are on the home straight of launching our much awaited IT Connect Project. The project has several aims, firstly to connect those of our members who are isolated within their own homes to our community hub, by launching a monitored online chat space from our website. Secondly, to encourage our members who are not able to attend our community hub sessions to work through creative & well-being projects online with the volunteer teams support, & thirdly to offer IT Basics workshops to members of the community who need support with these skills.
Square Pegs Charity worked hard to secure coveted funding from The Big Lottery Fund, which is the largest funder of community activity in the UK. It puts people in the lead to improve their lives and communities, often through small, local projects. Square Pegs secured just under £10,000, enabling them to purchase IT equipment, including both hardware & software to run the project for the first year.
Charlie Reilly, CEO at Square Pegs say's "It was a task to research what we needed to make sure we could provide a service to our members which was professional but accessible. Our members vary in both ability, and aptitude, and so we wanted our project to be straight forward for those who most need the support, with the ability to become more complex as our service users progress through the workshops we are providing."
The project's official launch date is Wednesday 7th December 2016 from 5.30 - 8pm, at Square Pegs Charity Hub, Royal Clarence Marina, Weevil Lane, Gosport. PO121BP. All are welcome to attend, all the team asks is that you please register by calling 02393079676 or emailing email@example.com.
